The Roanoke Valley Horsemen's Association has one club sponsored ride per month... April through October of each year. Each ride starts at 11:00 AM. Be in the saddle, ready to ride at 11:00 AM! Most rides are set to last 4-5 hours. We encourage all horses to be in good physical shape as most of these rides are mountainous. Shoes are strongly encouraged! All horses must have a current negative coggins. Please bring a COPY of the coggins with you to the ride, we will keep the copy! A liability release form is also required to ride. The form can be printed off of this web site and filled out prior to the ride date, or we will have forms available the day of the ride. Liability Release Form Upcoming Ride Dates are as follows: This year we are
looking at a little different format with our riding schedule.
Due to the economy and fuel costs, we are going to try
incorporating some of our rides with other groups. All of these
rides will over overnight, starting on Friday, with the RVHA
organized ride being on Sunday. All rides will be within a
two-hour haul from Roanoke. This way, you have the option of
camping, or just coming for the organized ride on Sunday. This
way, I hope more of us will be able to ride together and it will
help keep costs down. What we have scheduled is: April 24 – 26 - Massie’s Mill – Massie’s Mill is near Amherst, VA. The building was originally a school house and is now being used as a community center. Twice yearly, the residents in the community host a trail ride to try to raise money for improvements to the community center. The fee for the weekend is $75.00 (or was last year) and includes all meals Friday night through Sunday morning (and the food is absolutely delicious and plenty of it). You park right behind the community center and the parking is table-top level and plenty of it. You can come in on Friday night, but the rides are Saturday and Sunday. The land owners, whose property adjoins the community center, open their property for these two rides for the trail riders to ride through and it is absolutely beautiful. They offer a long ride and a short ride. Everyone will have to make their own reservations. You can get registration information by calling Nancy Brockman at 434/277-5630, or Diane Evans at 434/277-5814, or email Diane at bossmare@ceva.net. The forms can also be downloaded at the following links. May 22–25 - Ride at Carvins Cove. This is Memorial Day Weekend. We will be camping from the Teeter’s barn. Come in on Friday evening. We will ride Saturday and then have a cookout Saturday night, followed by a “Barn Dance” Saturday night. We will also ride on Sunday. June - No trail ride - we will be helping with the horse show July 31–August 2 – Hussy Mountain – This ride is in the Mount Rogers area and is absolutely beautiful. August 28–30 - Ride at the stable of Earl Moles – Willis, VA September 4–6 - The Pines – Craig County. October 16–18 -
Massie’s Mill. Same as April 24-26. I WILL PROVIDE
MORE DETAILS ON THE RIDES AS THE TIME GETS CLOSER.
