Buying A Horse

We have compiled a list of things you should know prior to purchasing your new horse.

- We encourage all prospective buyers to come try out the horse of interest prior to making a commitment. This way you will know first hand what type of horse you are getting and if its a good fit for you or not. All prospective buyers are welcome to take the horse on a trail ride with us to see how the horse handles situations on the trail. This being said, we will also sell horses sight unseen, and we always represent the horse as accurately as we possibly can. We want both horse and rider to be happy with each other, and the only surprises we want you to have when you get your new buddy home, is good ones!

- Please be honest when describing to us what level of rider you are so that we can match you to the best possible mount we have available. We don't want to sell you a horse that's too much horse for your abilities, and at the same time, don't want you to be bored with your new horse either. The only way for us to do this is if you honestly represent yourself and your abilities to us.

- Please make an appointment with us to see the horse you're interested in. We are not a retail store, and are not always at home. In fact, we spend most of our free time out on the trails or camping. However, if we know you're coming, we will make arrangements to be at home to show you the horse.

- Please be courteous! As stated above, we are not a retail store and do not sit at home waiting on people to show up. If you cannot make your specified appointment with us, please give us as much advance notice as possible so that we may make other plans if needed. We know that things can come up, but please just let us know so we don't sit around waiting all afternoon for someone that doesn't show up. Or if you're going to be significantly late, please call to let us know. Thanks!

- Please be advised that we do not hold horses without a deposit. A $500 deposit is required to hold a horse. The balance shall be due within 7 days unless prior arrangements have been made. Foals will be held until weaning time with a $500 deposit. The balance is due at 4 months of age and the foal is to be picked up at that time.

- After a horse is purchased, the horse should be picked up within 14 days unless prior arrangements have been made. After 14 days, a board fee of $10/day shall apply. Any veterinary or farrier bills after 14 days are additional actual cost.

- We do not offer trial periods on horses, due to the fact that there are too many things that can happen to the well being of the horse during the trial period. Prospective buyers are encouraged to come ride the horse all they want before the horse leaves our property. Pre-purchased exams are also recommended, but not required.

- Payment for horses is accepted by cash, cashier's check, or money order. Personal checks are accepted but only if the horse is not leaving before the check has time to clear!

- Please be sure to ask all questions necessary prior to purchasing your horse. We do our best to accurately describe each and every horse.

- One of our favorite things to do is talk horses. However, please be up front with us as to if you are a serious inquiry or if you are just looking for general information or browsing. We love to talk horses and will gladly do so, but please let us know what your situation is from the beginning! Generally, our horses do not last very long once we put them up for sale, so if you aren't looking to purchase a horse for several months, there's probably not much use in getting into a ton of detail over 1 particular horse until you are ready to purchase.

- We cannot make any guarantees on horses. They are living animals. All we can do is tell you about the horse's history and what he has or has not done and his prior health history. Tomorrow is another day, we cannot see into the future as to the health of a horse down the road. Any horse, human, dog, or any other living being could die or develop health issues tomorrow, next month, or next year. Therefore we make no guarantees. Again, pre-purchase exams are welcome for this reason!
